How to survive exams with The UniBox

It's that time of the year when I can practically smell the stress as I walk through campus in the form of to-go coffees and dry shampoo because, seriously, who has the time to shower when you've got 3,000 words to write in 2 hours? The library is so full that I'm worried about its structural integrity, I haven't seen my flat mates in well over 48 hours and I'm struggling to understand why we actually pay to put ourselves through this. But, alas, deadline/exam season is well and truly upon us and there's no escaping it.

Fuel up 

As tempting as it is to live off coffees and anything you can find in the library vending machine, the truth is that if you want your brain to work to the best of its ability you need to give your body some serious fuel during exam season. Think whole grains to keep your energy levels high, nuts to prevent cognitive decline and plenty of fruits and veggies because, well, nothing bad comes from eating fruits and veggies. I know it sounds impossible when your schedule is just "hit the books for 12 hours straight", but that's where The UniBox comes in. This month they've included a bunch of super tasty (trust me, I've already scoffed most of them) and super healthy treats to keep you going. Since it is so important to stay hydrated whilst studying (and all of the time) the box also includes sachets of flower essence by Conscious Water to pep up your water. It's essentially squash, but a lot posher, a lot tastier and with a lot less sugar.

Find your focus 

With the Twitter app staring you straight in the face, meeting deadlines becomes a task akin to actually finding a seat in the library during third term. Trust me, procrastination is an old friend of mine too.

When exams or deadlines are approaching though I try to implement some phone restrictions. For me, that means downloading the Moment app as well as practicing The Pomodoro Technique. As I've spoken about before, Moment is a way of tracking your phone usage, including how long you spend on specific apps. Having it downloaded seriously helps me to put the damn thing down. It's like having an old woman wag their finger at you every time you type in your passcode. The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that was developed in the 1980s, which essentially means splitting your time into chunks of 25 minutes where you focus on nothing but the task at hand, followed by a 5 minute break. After doing this 4 times over, you give yourself a longer 30-minute break to let your brain recover. Trust me, this is an absolute game changer as far as focus is concerned!

Look after yourself

Try to figure out when you work best and stick to those times of the day. That way not only do you ensure that you have time for you, but you'll also stop any frustration that occurs when you try hard to work but your brain just doesn't want to (for me, that's any point after 4 pm)!

And when you're not working show yourself some extra self-care. Run yourself a bath, watch some Netflix or do whatever makes you feel happy. I would also recommend trying to get more sleep during exam season which won't be a problem with the Space Masks heated eye masks that are included in this month's edition of The UniBox.   1. Wow, what a brilliant idea! I could definitely do with this stuff right now! I love the sound of all those healthy snacks and the pH balancing bar and night masks look perfect - my bags have bags right now and all this chocolate snacking and coffee isn't doing my skin much good! And I most definitely need that notebook right beside me, reminding me to stop procrastinating haha!
