July: Favourite Things

July has been a month of getting shit done.

In a matter of days I fly off to Greece to once again spend a month soaking up the sun (and the gyros) before heading back to university in September. Even the thought of all of the feta I'm going to eat is making me want to cry tears of happiness. However, that kind of trip also requires a lot of organisation. So, I've spent the last 30 days bulk taking pictures, scheduling blog posts and squeezing out every last ounce of my creative juices in an attempt to give myself time to do glorious nothing whilst on my holibobs. On top of that I went to Yorkshire for a week for a writing job and have been trying to fit in some dissertation research here and there. But I ain't complaining because you all know that productivity is a little bit like a drug to me.

You have a lot of holiday spam coming your way, my chums. So, before you all mute my Instagram stories and avoid Curly and Wordy until September, let's talk about some of the things that made July lovely.

Avocado Oil

Just like every other blogger on this earth, I am a big fan of coconut oil and always will be. However, I recently discovered the magic of avocado oil. As I said in my natural skincare routine, it works wonders! I put it on my face every evening to leave me with smoother and brighter skin by the time I wake up. It kind of smells like rotten bananas but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

Nose Ring

Every time I look in the mirror I do a happy dance, because I've finally switched out my nose stud for a ring! This has been my intention since I first got it pierced, but my nose was being a lil bitch and took a while to heal so I've had to wait what feels like years (but was in reality 3 months). Not only is the ring 100x more comfortable, but I feel like it makes me look more like the me I see in my head. Does that make sense?

Just a tip for anyone looking for dainty nose rings: Claire's is the place to be.

Spirit Junkie

As much as I loved working in Yorkshire earlier this month, I did not enjoy the 8 hour traffic jam I got stuck in on the way back. Honestly, nothing could make that sweaty experience fun, but I'm definitely glad that I had my audio book of Spirit Junkie to take the edge off just a little bit.

I've already mentioned Gabrielle Berstein in my latest Girl Love post, so I won't go on about this book too much. I'll just tell you that it's incredible and an absolute must-read for anybody embarking on a spiritual journey.

Denim Skirt

I made this skirt! Okay, so, I turned an old pair of jeans into a skirt, but that's still pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

This is one of the first 'proper' clothing upcycles I've done since starting to become more conscious about where I source my clothes and I am so proud of it. It's made out of a pair of Levi jeans that I somehow managed to nab in a charity shop for £6. Even though I liked the jeans themselves, they didn't fit as well as I would've liked and they had the perfect waist to turn into a skirt. So, with a little help from my Nan, I did just that.

I've been wearing it ever since and take particular joy in seeing very similar creations for £35 in Topshop.
