Girl Love #12

There are two times of the year when I feel my most inspired. For about 30 days I seem to gain a deeper sense of self and have a pretty much other-worldly drive towards my goals. The first of those months is, obviously, January in all of its "new year, new me" glory. The second is September. I just don't think it will ever lose that back-to-school feeling for me. To be honest, I'm waiting for my Mum to take me to WHSmiths to buy a new pencil case and planner any day now...

So, since "sort your life out" season is in full swing, it seemed only right to put together the latest edition of Girl Love and showcase two amazing women that I think are crushing it right now. These are the ladies whose content has left me feeling all types of inspired recently. And I promise, if you're not in the new term spirit yet, they will certainly get you there.

Holly Cassell from Witch Cake

If you follow me on Twitter, then you probably already know about my love for Holly since I retweet pretty much everything she puts out there. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a feminist who embraces spirituality and sexuality and then talks about it for the world to see.

Her blog, Witch Cake, is one of my favourite online spaces. I always leave it feeling all full of self-love (which is pretty incredible since at least 70% of the internet seems set on doing the opposite). Holly's posts about creativity, sex and, of course, Lush are all incredible, but it was her discussion about her Pagan upbringing that really affected me. As you all know I've been trying to implement spirituality into my daily life more and more, so I pretty much fell in love with the post "How I Practise Magic in my Daily Life" as soon as I saw the title. In it she talks about the rituals she uses as acts of self-care. It really inspired me to not discount any spiritual practise and to further explore what causes positive changes in my life.

Hannah from Doodleheart

Okay, so I'm kind of cheating here because I already mentioned Hannah in the first ever Girl Love post back in March 2016. But now she's blogging again and, honestly, I couldn't resist the opportunity to gush about her some more.

I've already told you about the incredible art she creates. As someone who finds it difficult to draw a stick man, I am still endlessly inspired and in awe of her illustrations. She has such a distinctive style that I adore, which is why I commissioned her to paint a portrait of my boyfriend and I for his birthday. However, I found Hannah originally through her blog Doodleheart. So, when I saw that it was back up and running I did a little happy dance.

I think it's safe to say that both of our blogs have evolved quite a bit since 2012! Hannah has now created an ethical lifestyle blog where she talks about everything from cruelty-free makeup and going vegan to her experience of natural contraception. So yes, you could say we're online soul mates.
